History
How Buena Vida emerged from friendship, movement across the Andes and a shared reading of terroir.
Open pageThe people behind Buena Vida
Buena Vida is led by Luca Hodgkinson and Sebastian San Martin, two winemakers shaped by long experience, restless curiosity and a shared faith in low-intervention, organic viticulture.

Shared direction
Buena Vida is carried by two different biographies that meet in the same instinct: wines should be alive, precise and deeply tied to place.
Both Luca Hodgkinson and Sebastian San Martin have spent more than twenty years moving through the world of wine. Their paths cross technical rigor, practical fieldwork and a long dialogue with growers, landscapes and markets.
Luca Hodgkinson
Luca's passion for wine began in Priorat, a region where geology, scarcity and precision leave a lasting mark on anyone who grows up among vines. From there he pursued formal studies in oenology at ENSAT in Toulouse and later completed a Master of Science in Environment and Viticulture at the University of Bordeaux.
After years working across France, Italy and Spain, he moved into major technical responsibilities in South America, converting estates to organic and biodynamic viticulture and helping lead projects in both Chile and Argentina. His work combines field sensitivity with a rigorous commitment to low-intervention winemaking.
Sebastian San Martin
Sebastian brings broad global experience as a winemaker and project builder, with a reputation for balance, palate and blending skill. He has helped establish wine brands from the ground up and advised boutique wineries across different markets.
His years working alongside highly respected consultants sharpened both his technical judgment and his commercial fluency. Just as importantly, he has remained a clear advocate for organic and sustainable viticulture, insisting that the balance of ecosystems is not an accessory to quality but part of its foundation.
